Ingredients:
1 cup of distilled water
1 teaspoon of Aloe vera gel
12 drops of Grapefruit seed extract
2 drops of jojoba oil
1 drop of vegetable glycerin
Directions:
Pour all the ingredients in a spray bottle. Cover the bottle and gently shake it. shake the bottle before using the spray. To use this homemade remedy, lightly spray on the part of the hair that needs detangling.
Flax Detangler
Flax seed is a popular super food that offers plenty of health benefits. And it can also help save you from severe tangles. Try this detangler recipe that can also inject a dose of beneficial protein to strengthen your hair strands.
Ingredients:
2 cups of distilled water
1/4 cup of ground flax seed
10 drops of Grapefruit seed extract
Directions:
Pour the water and flax in a small pot and place over low heat. Stir the mixture continuously for an even consistency. After a couple of minutes, the mixture should thicken and form a gel. Turn off the heat and set it aside to cool.
When the gel is cool enough, put it through a fine sifter to separate the gel from the seeds. When the seeds are removed, add the extract to the gel and stir. Transfer the mixture into an airtight container. Store it in the fridge. This detangle recipe can last 3 weeks. Apply directly to coiled, knotted strands.
Mallow Detangler
In addition to Aloe vera gel and flax, marshmallow root is another must-have ingredient when making a homemade detangler recipe. Its detangling properties are topnotch due to its mucinogenic content that is known for making hair soft. It will give your hair that silky feeling so it will slip right out a knot. It may take you a little more time to make but it is so worth it.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup of water
1/4 cup of marshmallow root
1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
1/2 tablespoon of olive oil
15 drops of jojoba oil
Directions:
Pour water and marshmallow root in a pot and place over low heat for 15 minutes up to half an hour. Stir occasionally until the mixture forms into a gel. Turn off the heat and set aside to cool.
When the gel has cooled down, put the mixture through a fine sifter to separate the gel from the marshmallow root. Add the apple cider vinegar with the extract to the gel. Stir well. Transfer into an airtight container and store in the fridge. You can use this detangler for up to 3 weeks. To use, apply it directly to tangled hair.
